Effectiveness and Perceptions of Small Group Teaching among Second Year MBBS Students

Background: Small Group Teaching (SGT) has grown in popularity medical education as it offers a dynamic setting for learning and is also learnercentered. Materials Methods: Hundred final year MBBS students with informed consent were divided randomly into two groups. A was delivered didactic lecture on the topic of Infant deaths, B administered casebased then subjected to small group interactive discussions. Pretest post-test conducted using MCQ’s. Perception based Likert scale taken. The data analyzed SPSS software. Results: Students who given experience fared better than post-test. tutorial teaching agreed upon by majority be more effective. Conclusion: effective compared lectures perception favor it.
